The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) played a key role in enforcement efforts. According to the document:

  • More than 600 URLs containing defamatory content were blocked

  • 426 URLs were blocked for targeting individuals’ dignity (character assassination)

  • 1,695 URLs were blocked for crimes against national dignity

These actions were aimed at controlling harmful narratives and protecting individuals and state institutions.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) also carried out extensive digital monitoring and blocking measures.

The report states that:

  • Over 1.5 million illegal URLs were blocked by PTA

  • PTA’s web management system additionally blocked 6.5 million domains

In total, more than eight million URLs were restricted across different platforms during the year.

Govt reiterates commitment to regulation

 

The IT minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to taking strict action against defamatory, immoral, and objectionable content on social media.

Officials say these measures are part of broader efforts to ensure responsible digital usage and safeguard public and national interests.
