Tuya Smart Introduces Wheeled Doova AI Companion for Elderly Care

Doova moves around the home to offer hands-free help, unlike regular smart speakers that stay in one place.
The robot uses LDS LiDAR to avoid obstacles, a four-microphone system to locate voices, and AI to analyze posture. Its 10.1-inch HD screen shows animated facial expressions, making it look friendly at home.
The robot’s main purpose is to help in emergencies. If someone falls or needs urgent help, they can say, “Hey Tuya, help.” Doova finds the person, goes to them, and checks their condition. If the user does not respond for 60 seconds, the robot sends an alert and starts a live video call with chosen family members.
Tuya explained that the robot is meant to add another way for families to communicate, not to replace 911 services, since it needs someone to speak to activate it.
Besides safety features, Doova uses a large language model so people can talk to it naturally, without strict commands. It can remind users to take medicine, explain utility bills, warn about possible scam messages, and control smart devices, lights, and curtains in the home.
The robot can do scheduled patrols around the room and then return to its charging dock on its own.
Mobile assistant robots are a growing part of elder care technology; concerns about privacy remain with camera-equipped devices in homes. Tuya Smart has not yet shared details about pricing or when the product will be available.
