Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered an investigation into delays in the completion of the Islamabad metro bus section from Peshawar Road to the airport.

PM Sharif visited the project early morning Thursday where he was briefed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman and Islamabad chief commissioner.

The prime minister expressed his annoyance over the delays in the completion of the project and asked why the service was not made operational if the project was complete.

He tasked former Lahore Development Authority Chairman Ahad Cheema to probe the reason for the delays.

He ordered the service to be made operational by April 16.

Sharif also ordered the authorities to extend the metro bus to Lahore-Islamabad (M2) motorway and prepare a feasibility report for a new section connecting Rawat to Peshawar Mor.

Pakistan Muslim League-N Spokeswoman Marriyum Aurangzeb said the prime minister visited the site at 7am to oversee the development work.

She said the project has been facing delays for over five years.

"The prime minister ordered the probe to find reasons for the delay and identify those responsible for it."

The prime minister has also ordered to run free service for the passengers in Ramzan, she said.
