9 News HD: Pakistan has reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia under the Makkah Alliance for Defence, saying it remains committed to protecting the Kingdom’s security and territory. The government has also rejected reports claiming that Pakistani fighter jets took part in attacks against Houthi forces in Yemen.

Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said the Makkah Alliance is a defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. Its main aim is to protect member countries from attacks and improve cooperation on security matters.

The spokesperson said Pakistan’s forces would not cross into Yemen to launch attacks against the Houthis. However, Pakistani forces could help defend Saudi territory if needed. He also rejected reports that Pakistani fighter jets had been used in airstrikes in Yemen.

The latest statement follows a meeting of the alliance’s defence committee in Riyadh on October 5. During the meeting, the three countries agreed to take steps to put their joint defence commitments into action and improve their ability to respond to security threats.

The countries also raised concerns about attacks targeting Saudi cities, civilians and important facilities. Pakistan has stressed that Saudi Arabia’s safety and territorial integrity remain important to its regional security policy.

Pakistan has had military ties with Saudi Arabia for many years, including training and other forms of cooperation. Officials say any further deployment of forces will depend on the alliance’s plans and operational needs.

Pakistan has also called for dialogue and diplomatic efforts to reduce regional tensions. The government says its position under the Makkah Alliance is focused on defence and protecting Saudi Arabia, rather than launching attacks from within Yemen.
