ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Australia have agreed to increase mutual trade in the agriculture and textile sectors, which is being termed a major development for bilateral relations and trade.

According to details, Pakistan and Australia agreed to increase bilateral trade, especially in the agriculture, textile, and tourism sectors. The statement regarding this understanding was issued by Commerce Minister Naveed Qamar.

An understanding was reached during the meeting between Federal Minister of Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar and High Commissioner of Australia to Pakistan Neil Hawkins in Islamabad yesterday. Trade Minister and Australian High Commissioner discussed important trade issues.

During the meeting between the parties, the possibility of preferential market access between Pakistan and Australia under formal arrangements like FTA and PTA was discussed. The Commerce Minister emphasized promoting trade with Australia.

The Commerce Minister also discussed initiatives like bilateral cooperation and technology transfer in developing food processing, dairy, and cattle industries, besides increasing bilateral trade to its true potential.
