Oil Tankers Association Observes Countrywide Strike To Press For Demands

ISLAMABAD: The Oil Tankers Association observed a countrywide strike in protest against non-acceptance of their demands.

Owing to the strike, the transportation of petroleum products was suspended. As a result, there is danger of the petrol crisis in the country. The government had sought time to resolve the issue.

Protesters said that they were unable to continue their work under these circumstances. They demanded that the income tax rate should be reduced from three to two percent.

They also demanded that the income tax withholding agent rate should also be reduced by one percent. "The oil companies should be forced to make payments within 15 days. Moreover, the control of the illegal loading should be ensured," he added.
