M-5.0 earthquake jolts Islamabad, major cities of KP

Peshawar: An earthquake of 5.0 magnitude struck different cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province and Pakistan's capital city on Wednesday.

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) confirmed the earthquake with an intensity of 5.0 on the Richter Scale hit Mingora, Malakand, Battagram, Mansehra, Dir Bala, Swabi and other cities of the province, forcing people to flee their homes in panic.

The monitoring centre said that the earthquake had a depth of 175 kilometres with the epicentre in the Hindu Kush region.
