Govt, PPP Agree on Joint Delegation to Hold Talks With PTI

9 News HD: The federal government and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have agreed to form a joint delegation for talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as political contacts between the two sides begin.
The decision was taken during a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the President House. The meeting reviewed the political and security situation in the country and also discussed concerns about the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the meeting’s statement, a joint committee has been formed to hold talks with PTI. The government and PPP delegations are expected to meet PTI leaders to discuss the current political situation.
The government delegation includes Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Rana Sanaullah and Ameer Muqam. The PPP side includes Sherry Rehman, Syed Naveed Qamar and Ejaz Jakhrani.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that PTI had received an invitation from the government for the meeting and accepted it following decisions made during an opposition meeting.
The meeting between the two sides is scheduled to take place at the office of National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. Important political matters are expected to be discussed during the talks.
The government and PPP also stressed the need for cooperation among state institutions and stronger efforts to maintain peace and stability in the country.
