9 News HD: Punjab health authorities have ordered the recall of 10 batches of Lowplat Plus after laboratory tests found the medicine to be substandard.

The Drug Testing Laboratory Punjab found quality issues during an impurities test. Following the test results, the Directorate of Drugs Control Punjab directed pharmacies, wholesalers, distributors and healthcare facilities to stop supplying the affected batches.

Lowplat Plus contains clopidogrel bisulphate 75mg and aspirin 75mg. The recalled batches include 6B300, 6B301, 6B268 and 6B277, which have expiry dates in January 2028. Six other batches — 6C135, 6C136, 6C137, 6C138, 6C129 and 6C270 — expire in February 2028.

Authorities have asked medicine sellers and healthcare facilities to immediately stop dispensing these batches and provide details of their remaining stock and records. The manufacturer has also been told to start the recall process and investigate the reason behind the quality problem.

Patients and consumers have been advised to stop using the affected batches immediately because they may pose a health risk. People who experience any unwanted effects after taking the recalled medicine should report them through the provincial medicine safety system.

The recall is part of Punjab’s efforts to keep substandard medicines away from patients and ensure that medicines available in the market meet required quality standards.
