Punjab Issues Alert Over Spurious Crepe Bandage

The alert, issued by the Provincial Quality Control Board, Punjab, identifies the product as follows: Product: Bandage Crepe GEN (Cotton Crepe Bandage), Size: 15cm × 4.5m (approximately +-5 percent), Batch No.: GLS-GS-01 with no expiry date on it.
According to the notice, the product was declared Spurious under Section 3(zb)(ii) of the Drugs Act, 1976. It was also classified as substandard with respect to the physical test performed.
The notice directs market authorization holders, importers and distributors to conduct a comprehensive review of their supply chains and distribution records.
Any suspicious or unauthorized activity, or irregularity identified during the review, must be reported immediately to the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).
Retailers, pharmacies, wholesalers, distributors and healthcare facilities have been instructed to immediately stop dispensing or selling the affected batch.
They have also been told to keep current stock and consumption records available for inspection and to ensure surveillance of the product throughout the supply chain.
The notice says regulatory action may be taken against non-compliance under the applicable laws and rules.
