- Overall seven catches were dropped in an inning which took Pakistan on the top.
- Then comes home side England with dropping 10 catches out 42.
- The upcoming days are a bit hectic for the men in green as fans expect a lot more from them.
Pakistan are unpredictable for a reason as they are surprising in both conditions, winning or losing. They were lined up as favorites to win the World Cup but they fell apart in key moments to give away the hopes of cricket fans back at home.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the first phase of the mega event for them was not less than a nightmare because they won just a match out of five games. Leaking runs with the ball, falling short in batting and missing easy chances in the field showed their legacy in all three departments.
On Sunday [June 23] exactly after a stressful week, Pakistan took the field against South Africa in a life-saving contest at historic ground of Lord’s. Deciding to bat first, the men in green showed some commitment and put a strong total on the scoreboard which created a bit pressure on their fellow strugglers.
A strong total on the scoreboard had given Pakistan a sigh of relief but against strong batting line of South Africa, such poor fielding might have changed the results.
Overall seven catches were dropped in an inning which took Pakistan on the top of the chart of most catches dropped in the World Cup 2019, so far.

With the highest percentage of 35%, Pakistan have dropped 14 catches out of 26 opportunities. Then comes home side England with dropping 10 catches out 42. India have the least percentage of dropping catches (6.25%) in the mega event after they missed only catch in 15 attempts.
The head coach of the team Mickey Arthur has already raised concerns over the fielding status of the team as it can harm the team in upcoming matches.
“It is a fact that we are not up to the mark in the field but we are keenly working on it improve,” stated Arthur in a post-match conference on Sunday after their convincing 49-run victory over the Proteas.
According to a renowned cricketing website, Pakistan have been observed going down in fielding after Steve Rixon parted ways with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2018.
Under his supervision, Pakistan shot up to 85% in taking outfield catches from 77.4%. Pakistan’s current fielding coach Grant Bradburn must take team’s poor fielding under consideration as they can’t afford too many fumbles on the field.
The upcoming days are a bit hectic for the men in green as fans expect a lot more from them. The boys need to keep themselves mentally strong and try to give their best in all three departments. For more latest news Pakistan, visit 9newshd.tv
