Viral Video of Police Violence Is From National Press Club, Not Islamabad Airport

A video circulating on social media claiming to show Islamabad Police assaulting passengers at Islamabad Airport has been found to be misleading. The footage actually shows police violence at the National Press Club in Islamabad and can be traced back to October 2025.

On August 11, 2026, a Facebook account named Quaid News Network shared a video showing a police officer assaulting a man with a stick. The post was captioned “Islamabad Airport” and accused Islamabad Police of using force and violence against passengers.

Fact Check

A reverse-image search of the viral video traced the footage to a Facebook post by PTI member Qasim Khan Suri, who shared the clip on October 2, 2025.

The 28-second video shows several police officers carrying sticks, with one officer pushing away a camera person. The footage then moves inside a hall, where a police officer can be seen beating someone with a stick.

Suri's original post identified the footage as showing Islamabad Police assaulting journalists inside the National Press Club and its cafeteria.

A further search found that news organisations including Dawn and Geo News had also shared the same visuals on October 2, 2025. Their reports identified the footage as showing an assault on journalists at the National Press Club, rather than passengers at Islamabad Airport.

According to a Dawn report published on the same date, Geo News journalist Shiraz Gardezi said police attempted to stop journalists from covering a protest at the National Press Club organised by the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC).

Gardezi said police attempted to snatch mobile phones and cameras from journalists and allegedly entered the press club and damaged property in the cafeteria, where people were reportedly beaten.

Old Video Circulated With False Details

The evidence shows that the viral footage is not from Islamabad Airport and does not show police assaulting passengers there.

Instead, the same visuals were already circulating in October 2025 in connection with an incident at the National Press Club in Islamabad.

The video was later reused in August 2026 with a misleading caption falsely claiming that the incident had occurred at Islamabad Airport.
