PFA to preach food safety through radio transmission

LAHORE (9Newshd): In order to spread awareness among citizens about safe and healthy food, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has completed all the preparations for its own FM radio stations.

The FM radio station will begin transmissions as soon as it receives a license from the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA). Last year, the food authority decided to establish three FM radio stations in Lahore, Multan, and Bahawalpur.

In this regard, consultants who have extensive experience in the field have been appointed for the project. According to the food department, a budget of Rs16 million has been set aside for the endeavor.

The studio for the FM radio station in Lahore has been completed. In addition, PEMRA has approved the project.

However, the authority is still waiting for the official license. After launching the FM radio station in three districts in the first phase, PFA will expand the project to all divisional headquarters of the province in the second phase.

PFA Director General Muhammad Usman revealed that the FM radio stations will be used for public awareness campaigns.

The FM radio station will also provide important information about nutrition and the problems associated with it.
