remove Atif Aslam’s song

Indian record label T-series has been forced to take down Pakistani singer Atif Aslam’s version of song Kinna Sona‘ from YouTube after #TakeDownAtifAslamsong started trending on Twitter.

The song from the film Marjaavaan was made private two days after its release. The song was uploaded on June 23. It was a cover of the song ‘Kinna Sona’ composed initially by Meet Brothers for the film Marjaavan, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria.

Many people took to social media and demanded a ban on T-series altogether for releasing the song despite FWICE’s demand on ban of Pakistani artists in India.

The company was targeted for promoting a Pakistani artist with some even demanding terror charges on T-series.

The label has issued an apology for promoting the Pakistani singer. The apology letter was issued in Marathi and addressed Raj Thackeray.

“It has been brought to our notice that the said song has been sung by Atif Aslam and this song was put up on the YouTube channel of T-Series by one of our employees from the promotion team. He was unaware of his action and erred while putting up the song,” said T-series.

“We condemn our mistake and apologise for the same. We assure you that henceforth we will neither release, nor promote the song on any platform of T-Series. Meanwhile, we are removing the said song from our YouTube channel. We also assure you that henceforth we will not be releasing or promoting work by any Pakistani artistes.”

Aslam has given his voice to many hit Bollywood songs like Pehli Nazar, tera Hone Laga Hu, Tu Jane Na, Tere Sang Yara, etc.
