Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday lashed out at the ruling government and said that PTI’s does not protect the lives of the people, GNN reported.
While addressing to a press conference, Bilawal Bhutto said that the government has failed to deal with the coronavirus as the government has shown a lack of seriousness in this matter. “We thought that this would be a coronavirus-budget but Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s budget does not protect the lives of the people”, Bilawal added.
Bilawal said the other challenge facing the country is the locust attack which is the most severe attack in last 25 years. “There is a threat of floods and economic depression in the country as well,” he said. “We were hoping that this budget will tackle those problems and challenges. But, the federal government only made ‘promises’,” he added.
The PPP Chairman regretted that the budget for fiscal year 2020-21 has not been prepared keeping in view the current challenges including that of coronavirus and locusts, adding that all political parties have rejected such budget.
He further said that no increase has been given to the salary of the public sector employees and pensioners. “The current situation warrants a historic raise in salaries and pensions”, he added.
“Sindh’s budget is a people-friendly budget”, Bilawal concluded.
Previously, Bilawal said that poverty and famine could be faced in coming days if public did not show resistance against the budget.
Terming it a PTI-IMF budget, the PPP chief said that it would destroy the national economy, adding that health and agriculture sectors would suffer the most due to the budget for next fiscal year.
“The selected prime minister is taking revenge of not being elected by voters in elections,” he remarked.
Bilawal highlighted that coronavirus pandemic and locust attacks were neglected in the budget, adding no benefit has been announced for salaried class, pensioners, health workers and poor.
The government has forced retired persons to come out against it by not raising their pensions, he said.
The PPP has rejected the budget and it will be opposed at every forum, he vowed.
