Viral Clip Does Not Show Imran Khan’s Convoy Being Taken to Hospital
Published On 22 Aug, 2026
A viral video claiming to show a security convoy transporting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital has been found to be old and unrelated to his recent hospital transfer order.
The video began circulating on social media on August 19, 2026, a day after the Supreme Court ordered that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment.
Social media users claimed that the footage showed a large convoy transporting Khan from Adiala Jail, also known as Rawalpindi Central Jail, to the hospital.
However, a review of the video found that the footage predates the Supreme Court's August 18 order.
Fact Check
A reverse search of keyframes from the viral clip traced the footage to social media posts from December 2025.
The same video was shared by several PTI-focused social media pages at the time, with captions indicating that it showed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi arriving at the Punjab Assembly to meet PTI parliamentarians.
Sohail Afridi had visited the Punjab Assembly in December 2025, where he addressed PTI lawmakers. His visit was also covered by local media at the time.
Reports from the occasion mentioned heated exchanges involving members of Afridi's entourage, security officials, PTI leaders and journalists.
A comparison of keyframes from the viral August 2026 posts with the original footage from December 2025 shows that the scenes are the same.
This confirms that the footage being circulated as Imran Khan's hospital convoy is not recent and does not show Khan being transported from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital.
Supreme Court Order
The Supreme Court on August 18, 2026, ordered that Imran Khan be moved to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment within 48 hours.
The court also directed that Khan be allowed to meet his family once a week, speak to his sons by telephone twice a week and that a medical board be constituted regarding his treatment.
The government subsequently asked the Supreme Court to review or withdraw the order, arguing that transferring a prisoner to a private hospital could have implications for prison regulations.
Officials said the government was not preventing Khan from receiving medical treatment but maintained that treatment should be provided in accordance with prison rules.
Despite the ongoing developments surrounding Khan's health and treatment, the viral convoy video is unrelated to the August 2026 events.
Viral Spread
The video was shared more than two dozen times on Facebook and was also posted multiple times on Instagram and X.
Posts on X alone collectively received more than 190,800 views.
Conclusion: The viral video does not show Imran Khan being transported from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital in August 2026. The footage dates back to December 2025 and may show KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi travelling to the Punjab Assembly to meet PTI lawmakers.
