Salman Mirza Expresses Desire to Play in President’s Trophy

The 32-year-old left-arm pacer, who has represented Pakistan in 17 T20Is, revealed on social media that he is currently without a team for the first-class tournament, which is scheduled to begin on September 12.
Mirza suffered a thumb fracture during last month’s National Champions Cup, ruling him out of the initial selection process. By the time he recovered from the injury, several departmental sides had already finalised their squads.
The pacer said he subsequently contacted several departments but could not find a place in their respective squads. However, he remains open to joining a team if they require a fast bowler later in the competition.
“President Trophy Grade-1 (FC) starting in couple of days. I’m not with any team atm because i got injured (thumb fracture) during National Champions Cup. Later on, i contacted a few departments but they had already finalised their squad,” Mirza posted.
“If any team required fast bowler at later stage of the season, I’m available & willing to play.”
The President’s Trophy Grade-I will kick off Pakistan’s 2026-27 domestic cricket season, with eight departmental teams competing in the tournament.
The competition will feature 28 four-day matches during the single-league round-robin stage, with the top two sides advancing to the final, which is scheduled to begin on October 28.
