PML-N wins seven seats, PPP secures three in first phase of AJK polls

PML-N emerges single largest party in AJK phase-I polls with seven seats, leaving PPP runner-up with three, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results, as counting in the remaining constituencies is underway, Dunya News reported here on Monday.

Polling was held in 13 constituencies of Mirpur Division for AJK Legislative Assembly (LA). The result of LA-6 Bhimber, LA-10 Kotli and LA-12 is yet arrive. The elections are taking place in three phases.

Vote counting is underway and result is pouring in. The polls remained largely peaceful, with a very few incidents of violence. People enthusiastically used their right to vote.

They lined up in front of polling stations early morning. It was expected that the real competition would be between the PPP and the PML-N. The result also reflected that the two major parties shared the big chunk of seats.

The detail of the unofficial and unconfirmed results is as under. Among the declared results, PPP candidate Qasim Majeed won the LA-2 Mirpur-II seat with 12,904 votes, defeating PML-N's Azeem Bakhsh Chaudhry, who secured 8,182 votes.

In LA-3 Mirpur-III, PPP's Chaudhry Yasir Sultan emerged victorious with 11,676 votes against 9,832 polled by PML-N candidate Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed.

PML-N's Rukhsar Ahmed won the LA-4 Mirpur-IV constituency after securing 20,172 votes, defeating PPP candidate Chaudhry Sohaib Arshad, who received 13,865 votes.

In LA-9 Kotli-II, PML-N candidate Umair Niazi secured victory with 31,080 votes, ahead of PPP's Javed Iqbal Budhanvi, who polled 28,509 votes.

According to the unofficial and unofficial results of all 193 polling stations in the LA-13 Kotli-6 constituency, Raja Ayaz Ahmed Khan of the Muslim League (N) won by securing 21,856 votes, while Nisar Ansar Abdali of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party came in second with 15,859 votes.

Meanwhile, PML-N candidate Chaudhry Tariq Farooq won the LA-7 Bhimber-III seat with 35,490 votes, defeating independent candidate Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, who secured 25,100 votes.

According to the unofficial and unofficial results of all 139 polling stations in Constituency LA-1 Mirpur-1, Azhar Sadiq of the Muslim League (N) won by securing 15,427 votes, while Muhammad Afsar Shahid of the PPP came in second with 9,832 votes.

Unofficial and non-final results of all 155 polling stations of Constituency LA-8 Kotli-1 have been received, according to which PPP's Zafar Iqbal Malik won by securing 19,535 votes, while PML-N's Malik Muhammad Nawaz Khan came second with 11,966 votes.

According to the unofficial and unofficial results of all 206 polling stations in LA-11 Kotli-4, Muhammad Asif of the PML-N won by securing 26,190 votes, while Chaudhry Muhammad Akhlaq of the PPP came in second with 21,751 votes.

According to the unofficial and unconfirmed results of the LA-5 Bhimber-1 constituency, Waqar Ahmed Noor of the PML-N won win with 29,875 votes, while Chaudhry Pervez Ashraf of the Pakistan Peoples Party remained second place with 29,143 votes.
