Islamabad: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing-777 was seized on Friday by Malaysian authorities at the Kuala Lumpur airport by order of a local court on “non-payment of lease dues”.
Passengers were already on board, along with an 18-member crew, when the airplane was seized.
PIA had leased two aircrafts, including the seized Boeing-777, from a Vietnamese company in 2015.
In a tweet from its official account, PIA said that the local court in Malaysia had taken a “one-sided decision”. The tweet also said that alternate travel arrangements for the passengers have been finalized.
