Rawalpindi: A Pakistan army soldier embraced martyrdom on Monday after terrorists targeted the Security Forces post in Ghariuom area of North Waziristan, said military’s media wing.

In an official statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that army troops responded promptly, however, during the exchange of fire, 30-year-old Sepoy Muhammad Amir Iqbal embraced martyrdom.

The area has been cordoned off, aiming to eliminate any terrorists in the area.

On September 30, following an intense exchange of fire, a Pakistan Army captain was martyred in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As per ISPR, the security forces conducted an operation after receiving a credible tip-off regarding the presence of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists in Tank.

TTP Commander Khawaza din alias Sher Khan was killed during the operation, said ISPR.

The military’s media wing added that Captain Sikander (27) from Pakpattan, was martyred during the exchange of fire.
