ISLAMABAD: The opposition has failed to evolve the consensus over the name of the new National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman.
Three major parties the PML-N, the PPP, and the JUI have proposed names for the position separately.
The PML-N has nominated Nasir Saeed Khosa, Salman Siddique, and Irfan Qadir. The PPP has proposed the name of former foreign secretary Jalil Abbas Jillani while the JUI has suggested the name of Justice (retd) Dost Muhammad Khan.
The Steering Committee of opposition will further consider the names for the position and three names will be sent to President Dr. Arif Alvi.
According to sources, the PPP has also nominated the name of a former judge. Owing to the differences of the opposition, the government has retained the current Chairman Javed Iqbal.
The opposition will have a consultation on the proposed names in the National Assembly in the ongoing meeting.
