LAHORE: The School Education Department Punjab on Wednesday has notified three holidays in a week in schools due to smog.

As per details, schools in the provincial capital Lahore will remain closed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until further notice. The School Education Department has issued a notification for the closure of schools on the order of the Lahore High Court. The Punjab government also submitted the holiday notification in court.

Earlier, The Lahore High Court had ordered schools to observe three holidays in a week due to the worsening situation of smog. The court had also ordered the Punjab government to submit the notification regarding the three leaves.

Meanwhile, the Punjab School Education Department has issued guidelines in the wake of the worsening situation of smog.

As per instructions, wearing of masks has been made mandatory for students and teachers on the school premises. Moreover, the wearing of glasses in the classroom and a ban has been imposed on eye rubbing in the classrooms.

Outdoor activities have been restricted on the school premises while a sprinkling of water has been made mandatory. On the other hand, a ban has been imposed on burning of any material within the boundary of schools.

On the other hand, CityTraffic police are issuing challans of two thousand rupees for smoke-emitting vehicles. Yesterday, 890 challans were issued for violation of SOPs.
