Four Trapped After Building Collapses During Anti-Encroachment Drive In Karachi

KARACHI: Rescue operation underway as at least four people were trapped after a building collapsed in Karachi during an anti-encroachment operation in the surroundings of Orangi Town drainage nullah on Friday.
According to the details garnered, a three-story building was collapsed during the anti-encroachment operation to clear illegal constructions near Orangi Town nullah.
The incident took place in Orangi Town Sector 9. It emerged that the three-story residential building was being demolished by labourers using manual tools instead of heavy machinery which suddenly went down on them.

Meanwhile, three laborers have been pulled out of the debris, while a search operation is underway to rescue the fourth man. The injured persons have been shifted to the hospital.
A heavy contingent of police, Rangers, and rescue teams have reached the site. The area has been cordoned off.
The anti-encroachment drive along Orangi nullah started on February 26. Earlier, the city government removed all the soft encroachments from the area.
