Elahi appreciates LHC decision for instant elections

Lahore: Former Chief Minister of Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said the decision of the Lahore High Court (LHC) is welcoming.

Turning to Twitter, Parvez Elahi said: “There was hope for justice from the judiciary,” adding that the judiciary has maintained the supremacy of the constitution.

“This decision has increased the prestige of the judiciary,” he stated.

Elahi added that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should not delay after the court's decision and should announce the election schedule immediately.

The LHC late directed the ECP to conduct the polls in Punjab within 90 days.

Announcing the reserved verdict, Justice Jawad Hassan accepted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) plea and asked the electoral body to stage the polls within the constitutional limit.
