Earthquake tremors were felt in Swat (Swat, Pakistan, Asia) and its surroundings on Friday, February 10.

According to the Seismological Center, the intensity of the earthquake has been recorded at 4.4 on the Richter scale.

According to the measuring center, the depth of the earthquake was recorded at 203 km, while the epicenter was the Pak-Afghan-Tajikistan border region.

There were no immediate reports of any loss of life or property due to the earthquake.

It should be noted that the death toll from the 7.8 and later 7.5 earthquakes in Turkey and Syria on Monday, February 6 has exceeded 21 thousand. The World Organization says in its report that the number of victims in the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria may reach 23 million. Difficulties are also being faced in relief work in the respective areas due to severe weather conditions.

A few days ago, after the terrible earthquake in Turkey and Syria, rumors were circulating in some circles that the border belt of Pakistan would also be shaken by a terrible earthquake, after which the competent authorities denied this rumor. done In a special conversation with Sama, Director of Meteorological Department Zahid Rafi said that the earthquake in Turkey and Syria is being wrongly compared to Pakistan on social media.

He clarified that the earthquake in Turkey does not mean that an earthquake can happen in Pakistan now.

Zahid Rafi said that there are fault lines in Pakistan, but they are not related to the earthquake in Turkey. It takes hundreds of years for the energy of a high-intensity earthquake to re-accumulate.

He also said that an earthquake of magnitude 7 occurred in Pakistan in 2005 and 2013.

The Director of the Meteorological Department further said that the return period of an earthquake of such intensity does not come so soon, where the earthquake occurred in Turkey, such a large earthquake had not occurred in the recent past.

According to Zahid Rafi, it would take hundreds of years to accumulate energy for an earthquake of such intensity, it is not correct to compare the earthquake of Turkey with Pakistan.
