COAS, UK Chief of Defence Staff discuss Afghan peace process

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Defence Staff United Kingdom Army General Sir Nicholas Patrick Carter on Tuesday has called on Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), matters of mutual interests including the Afghan peace process, security and defence cooperation as well as evolving global geostrategic environment were discussed during the meeting.
The visiting dignitary acknowledged Pakistan’s continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region and pledged to further enhance bilateral relations between both countries.

Earlier, US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad had met General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed issues of mutual interest and the region’s overall security situation.
The military media wing said that apart from security issues, the matters of the Afghan peace process and both countries’ role in its progress were also discussed.
Zalmay Khalilzad commended Pakistan’s efforts for peace in the region.
