COAS, BAHRAIN FM DISCUSS MATTERS OF MUTUAL INTEREST

RAWALPINDI (9 News) – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al-Khalifa called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ today.

During the meeting, both the leaders discussed matters of mutual interest including security situation in the region.

On the occasion, the Bahrain FM has appreciated Pakistan’s contributions for conflict prevention in the region. The visiting dignitary also pledged to keep working for better relations between the two brotherly countries.
Meanwhile, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud also called on General Bajwa. During the meeting, regional security situation and matters of professional interest were discussed. A day earlier, Pakistan and Bahrain have signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) regarding promotion of bilateral trade and investment, avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion. These MoUs were signed by Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi and hid Bahraini Counterpart Skiekh Khalid Bin Ahmad Al-Khalifa in Islamabad on Monday. The two leaders agreed for further enhancement of bilateral relations between the two countries. The foreign minister also thanked Bahrain for supporting the OIC resolution on regional peace and security in South Asia. He also said that the dangers regarding the acts of aggression by India is being increased due to the upcoming local election in India. FM Qureshi further mentioned that Pakistan will strongly retaliate to any misadventure by India.

ON MARCH 3, THE ORGANIZATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION (OIC) HAS CONDEMNED IN THE STRONGEST TERMS RECENT WAVE OF INDIAN TERRORISM IN INDIAN-HELD JAMMU KASHMIR AND EXPRESSED DEEP CONCERN OVER THE ATROCITIES AND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS IN THE VALLEY.

In a resolution adopted by the 46th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers in Abu Dhabi, the OIC member states reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir remains the core dispute between Pakistan and India and its resolution is indispensable for the dream for peace in South Asia.

It reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Kashmiri people in their just cause and reminded the international community of its obligation to ensure implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on the dispute.
