Much-awaited Orange Line Metro Train to give a test run on Oct 28


(Lahore News): In a positive development, the very first train below the mass-transit job’Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT)’ will operate from October 28 involving Dera Gujran into Anarkali in Lahore. In this aspect, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar presided over a meeting to examine the OLMT job and testing period of the Metro trains. Buzdar was advised that the building work on 13 substations was finished.

The assembly decided to run a test that was maiden on the train powered by electricity. Significantly, the authorities that were concerned advised the press the building work of 11 substations will be finished by November this year, suggesting the mass-transit project could be made operational after trains to operate. Buzdar directed the authorities to expedite the work to create OLMT project operational whenever possible to ease the general public.

The minister said that the people would have the ability to use trains in January a year ago. CM Buzdar is going to be the guest at the event. The line is expected to manage 250,000 passengers and is going to probably be served by 26 channels. Even though it is mentioned as part of the broader China Pakistan Economic Corridor, the Orange line has been funded by the Government of Punjab.

The project had been initiated using a memorandum of understanding between the authorities of Pakistan and China on May 2014. Construction works on the project started in October 2015.
