Pakistan’s amateur snooker player Mohammad Asif clinched the 11th Ranking Snooker Championship at NBP Sports Complex, Karachi.
Asif beat Mubashir Raza by the scores of 8-7 to win the mega event after a nail-biting contest. Champions Asif pursed the prize money of Rs 100,000/-.
“I am thankful to the god for securing yet another title under my belt. The competition was tough as all players played really well,” Asif said on a winning note.
NBP’s SEVP Tariq Jamali was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the prize among the winners. Mubashir, for his outstanding performance and finishing on the second spot, received the prize money of Rs 40,000/-.
Mohammad Majid with the highest break of 140 got prize money of Rs 5,000/-.
Jamali on the occasion praised the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation for lifting the status of snooker in the country. “It is always exciting to see sports flourishing in the country. We will keep on investing in this sector to put a soft image of Pakistan at the international level,” he said.
Jamali congratulated Asif for winning the tournament and all other players who participated in the event to make it successful.
