Pakistan pacer Mohammad Abbas will not be part of Nottinghamshire side for the upcoming County Championship, Nottingham Post has reported.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is hoping for a shortened county season to begin in August but the pacer will not be part of the side due to his international commitments.
“We’ll review Abbas again in the future,” Nottinghamshire’s Director of Cricket Mick Newell said as quoted by Nottingham Post. “It’s impossible for him to come over. The next cricket he’ll play here you would hope is a Test series for Pakistan. We’ll watch that keenly and see how he gets on.”
Abbas was included in Pakistan’s 29-man squad which travels to England for Test and T20I series.
The side are keen to include all-rounder Imad Wasim for the Vitality T20 Blast but are yet to make a final decision.Abbas had signed a deal with Nottinghamshire for the County Championship.
