Marcus Labuschagne, the fifth-ranked Test batsman due to his red hot form in elite format of the game has crowned him an ODI call-up in the 14- man squad for the three-match series in January against India.
Glenn Maxwell was the prominent expulsion from the squad despite coming back from the six-week mental break as Australia made seven changes to the squad that took part in the ICC Men’s cricket world cup in England.
The seven players who were dropped from the World Cup squad are Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Jason Behrendorff, and Nathan Lyon.
Ashton Agar and Sean Abbott are the notable names to earned surprise recall. Abbott will be back in Australia colors after five years whereas Agar last played 18 months ago. Injured Josh Hazlewood has also been included. Head coach Justin Langer will also take rest as assistant coach Andrew Mcdonald will take his place on the tour.
Australia will face India in three ODIs, on January 14, 17 and 19, in Mumbai, Rajkot, and Bengaluru respectively.
