ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi on Friday directed staffers of the revenue authority not to harass tax filers.
Speaking to media here, Zaidi said no date had yet been finalised for the budget, adding, “We will only do what would be better for Pakistan”.
In his first orders since assuming the top revenue post, he directed officials not to freeze any bank account without prior notice to the account holder.
Earlier in the day, the FBR chairman shared his vision to revamp the tax system with concerted efforts and addressed issues affecting the institution.
Addressing FBR officers, he stressed the need to shift from manual to complete automated system to facilitate taxpayers.
Zaidi emphasised the need to document all the economic transactions, which could be a great source of revenue generation for the country.
He assured that the issues being confronted by the FBR employees would be addressed under his leadership and sought the support of all the officers to work as a team for the betterment of institution and the country.
The FBR chief, at the outset, thanked the prime minister for reposing his trust in him and pledged to bring improvement to the FBR’s working and performance as per his expectations.
He hoped to have regular interactions with FBR officers in future to further improve the performance of the institution in larger interest of the country. For More News Pakistan News Today
