Maryam Nawaz happy over Shahbaz Sharif’s arrest, claims Chohan

Fayyazul Hassan Chohan

Lahore: Punjab Information Minister, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan has claimed that Maryam Nawaz was happy over Opposition Leader Shahbaz Sharif’s arrest.

While addressing a press conference in Lahore on Wednesday, Chohan stated that ‘M-League (Maryam League)’ is playing its own ‘game’.

“Pervaiz Rasheed and Mahmood Khan Achakzai are leading M-League along with Maryam Nawaz. She had led the party to a disaster after adopting Rasheed and Achakzai’s ideology which is clearly against national interests,” he said.

The information minister further stated that Shahbaz Sharif was arrested over the allegations of corruption and money laundering.

“Whenever you try to hold them (opposition) accountable they start chanting slogans that democracy is under threat. I want to tell you all that there is no threat to democracy in Pakistan, and Prime Minister Imran Khan will not give National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) to the opposition,” he said.

Referring to former premier Nawaz Sharif’s address to All Parties Conference (APC), he said that around fifty Members of National Assembly (MNA) and senators have rebelled from PML-N.

“The leader of PML-N was disqualified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Shahid Khanqan Abbasi will be declared a caliphate if he is arrested tomorrow,” he added.
