Police arrested four accused, including the victim’s wife and daughter, for murdering a man named Arshad and staging the crime as robbery a month ago in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat area on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Sajida Bibi, wife of the victim Arshad, her daughter Saira and two accomplices Moazzam and Irfan had tried to portray Arshad’s killing as robbery cum murder a month ago.
The investigation revealed that Saira wanted to marry Moazzam but her father was against it. She handed over the licensed pistol of her father to Moazam — who along with an accomplice gunned him down.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Zeeshan Asghar, the killing of Arshad was said to be the result of resistance from dacoits by her family.
However, an investigation unfolded that the murder had not taken place due to Arshad’s resistance to robbers, rather, he had been gunned down by Moazzam and Irfan at Saira and her mother’s behest as he was against his daughter marrying Moazzam.
