KARACHI (9 News) – Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi kicked off “clean Karachi campaign” on Sunday (today).
It is noteworthy that the clean Karachi drive camping will begin from 12 noon onwards at KPT Head Office, Near Tower Bridge.
The centered sponsored cleanliness drive will be started today with the first target to de-silt all storm-water drains before Eid-ul-Azha, announced by the federal minister while speaking to the journalists.
Ali Haider Zaidi vowed to remove garbage from all nullahs in the metropolis till August 14 and directed to all party supporters, citizens as well as volunteers to reach at KPT building.
He said that the campaign will work in two phases. “In the first phase, 32 nullahs will be cleaned in Karachi, while garbage from all areas of the city would be lifted in the second phase.”

He further said that the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) would play an important role in the campaign and provide its expertise in this regard. “The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), District Municipal Corporations (DMC), Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), trade associations and K-Electric have also extended their support for the drive,” he mentioned.
He explained that the Private organizations, celebrities and volunteers have pledged their support for the campaign.

Earlier, Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi vowed to complete cleanliness drive in Karachi till August 14.
In a statement, the minister said that Pakistan’s most populous city Karachi where country generating huge revenue was badly ignored by former Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) government.
Meanwhile, the minister assured that before the August 14, cleanliness drive in Karachi would be completed with the joint efforts of its citizens. He also announced to take a part in the cleanliness campaign.
He urged all segment of society to play their responsible role in cleaning Karachi City. “We will launch the drive from Sunday till August 13, adding, it would be the biggest Eid gift for Karachi residents,” he maintained.
He also directed municipal representatives and other relevant departments to speed up their work.
