Chief Election Commissioner Refuses to Take Oath from Two ECP Members Appointed by Govt

The 2 members who’d been appointed by President Dr Arif Alvi a day before arrived in the ECP headquarters to assume control but returned. The CEC refusal to administer the oath to the unconstitutional members that are appointed had been deemed unconstitutional from the law who contended that the CEC had no power.

Informed sources told that when Khalid Mehmood Siddiqui and Munir Ahmad Kakar went into ECP secretary Babar Yaqub Fateh Mohammad’s workplace together with their linking accounts the secretary conveyed to them the CEC perspectives in their appointment and also a communication hed delivered into the ministry of parliamentary affairs.

In a declaration, PPP’s parliamentary leader in the Senate Sherry Rehman said the process for an appointment with ECP members had been described in the constitution and the authorities had violated the record.

she said that the authorities resisted also the committee and the resistance leader on the appointment of ECP members. she stated the ECP had declared the constitution’s supremacy she advised the authorities to learn to give regard to the constitution and the parliament and stated the authorities couldn’t be conducted through ordinances as well as alarms.

She requested the government to reassess its own dictatorial strategy.chairman of both the senate and inherent expert Mian Raza Rabbani said the way the president appointed the two members proved to be a breach of articles 213 and 218 of this constitution. he stated it was unfortunate that this assault on parliament and the constitution had come from inside as under article 50 of this constitution the president happened to become a part of their parliament.

In this instant case, the president has with mala fide intention violated the 18th constitutional amendment by making these appointments in his discretion he stated adding the words in his discretion was omitted in the appropriate article of this constitution. he explained that the procedure for the appointment was marred by violations for and on behalf of this authorities.

The requirement of completing those vacancies had been offended he clarified. a spokesperson for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Marryiam Aurangzeb cautioned the parliamentary poll on the appointment of the ECP members were dismissed and a choice was taken. law minister barrister Farogh Naseem explained the CEC decision to not administer the oath to the ECP members. he explained that the CEC had the ability and no justification.
