South Korean president announces lifting of martial law

Seoul: South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol announced the lifting of martial law a few hours later, after which the cabinet also approved the lifting of martial law from the country after a vote in parliament.

The South Korean president had to lift martial law within six hours, and as soon as the lifting of martial law was announced, the army began returning to the barracks.

The South Korean opposition demanded the president's resignation and emphasized the accountability of all those involved in the ruling party.

On the other hand, South Korea's largest labor union has also demanded the president's resignation and announced a strike until he does.

The South Korean president had announced the imposition of martial law, accusing the opposition of anti-state activities. Later, the parliament voted against the imposition of martial law.

190 members of the 300-member South Korean parliament voted against martial law and declared the presidential decision null and void.

According to the news agency, the opposition is celebrating in South Korea after the president announced the lifting of martial law.
