Pak Army Completes Aerial Reconnaissance Of Losses In Quake-Hit Areas: ISPR

RAWALPINDI (9 News) – The Pakistan Army aviation helicopters have completed aerial reconnaissance of damages in Mirpur, Jarikas and Jatlan – the areas affected by the earthquake.
According to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday, Army troops have reached the earthquake-hit areas of Mirpur, Jatlan and Jarikas.
Relief and rescue efforts are underway.
Earlier, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has directed the immediate rescue operation for the earthquake victims in aid of civil administration for victims of the earthquake in AJK.

Earlier on Tuesday, 19 people were killed while over 300 wounded when an earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter Scale struck several cities across the country and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake measured 6.1 on the Richter Scale at a depth of 10km. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the quake measured 5.7 on the Richter Scale and 12km north-west of Jhelum. Aftershocks were also felt in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Kotli, Sialkot and Malakand.
The building of Benazir Bhutto Medical College’s Old Boys Hostel collapsed due to the earthquake. In Jhelum, a woman was killed and 13 injured in quake-related incidents.
After the earthquake, flights were stopped at Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi airports.
Roads have been damaged and crevices were created in canals in Mirpur. Emergency has been declared in all hospitals in Mirpur. The wall of a house collapsed in Jhelum. Several buses and vehicles turned turtle due to the earthquake.
