LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday nullified the trial court’s order declaring Nusrat Shehbaz, wife of Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, an absconder.
Two member bench headed by Justice Sarfraz Dogar heard the plea of Nusrat Shehbaz against the accountability court order declaring her an absconder in money laundering reference. The court accepted Nusrat Shehbaz’s plea and directed her to appoint a representative in the accountability court.

LHC also directed her to become part of the court proceedings after recovering from the illness and meanwhile, the appointed representative will brief the wife of the PML-N president about the developments in the case.
It is pertinent to mention here that Ms. Nusrat, who at present is in London, filed the petition and asked the LHC to set aside the order of the trial court regarding denial of an exemption from personal appearance.
The petitioner contended that she filed an application for exemption from personal appearance, supported with verified medical documents, in the [trial] proceedings but the trial court dismissed the same contrary to the facts.
