LAHORE: The fourth two-day meeting of the Central Executive Council (CEC) of Pakistan Islamic Medical Association concluded on Monday.

Fifty-five CEC members from all across Pakistan attended the event presided over by Prof Afzal Mian, president, and Prof. Khubaib Shahid, general secretary.

In a resolution, Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) demanded immediate relief to thousands of doctors and medical students who were stranded due to the overnight dissolution of PMDC. There are serious issues related to registration renewal, faculty appraisal, and house jobs but there is no one to resolve them.

This act is also a source of embarrassment to Pakistani medical fraternity worldwide, affecting scores of Pakistani doctors aspiring for registration in different countries for post-graduation. The resolution said, “PIMA demands the restoration of PMDC and rectifying its shortcomings.”

It said the government should refrain from taking any action which was against the general public and the medical fraternity.
