9 News HD: Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been fined 20% of his match fee for breaching the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct during the ODI tri-series match against England in Lahore.
The ICC confirmed the decision on Wednesday, October 28, after reviewing an incident that took place during Pakistan’s match against England on Sunday. Rauf was found to have breached Level 1 of the code, which covers behaviour that goes against the spirit of the game.
The incident happened at the end of the 46th over of Pakistan’s innings. Rauf appealed for a wide ball while standing at the non-striker’s end. He then got into an argument with England all-rounder Will Jacks after the appeal was not accepted.
According to the ICC, Rauf continued the argument despite a warning from umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid. He also raised his bat and brushed past the umpire while moving towards Jacks.
Along with the 20% fine, Rauf received one demerit point. This was his third offence within 24 months, taking his total to five demerit points. Rauf accepted the penalty proposed by match referee Jeff Crowe, so no formal hearing was needed.
England also faced action after being found three overs short of the required rate. The team was fined 15% of its match fees, while captain Harry Brook accepted the penalty on behalf of the side.
The disciplinary action followed a close match in which Pakistan beat England by one wicket. Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf shared an unbeaten 89-run partnership for the final wicket to help Pakistan secure the win.
The incident highlights the importance of following the ICC Code of Conduct and maintaining discipline on the field.
