Ten more trains to be made operational from August 16: Rasheed

10 more trains to be restored

Lahore: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that ten more trains will be made operational from August 16.

While addressing a press conference in Lahore on Saturday, he said that ML-1 project will be tendered before August 30.

“ML-1 will be Asia’s first with automatic signal system. This project will create two hundred thousand job opportunities for people and there is a reason it has been declared a strategic project by China,” he said.

Speaking further of ML-1 project, he said that all credit goes to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

He expressed his desire regarding inauguration of the ML-1 project by Chinese President and added that the project will play a significant role for Pakistan’s economy.

Sheikh Rasheed announced that all old stops of trains will be abolished.

“We have changed the route of Badar Express and it will now pass through Faisalabad. The Mohenjo Daro Express will now go up till Karachi. We want to shift the burdens of roads on tracks. The issue is that new roads are constructed after every two years and here a track is being changed after 150 years,” he said.

Speaking over the issue of politics he said that corruption is a serious crime and anyone involved in the practice will not be spared.

“In my opinion, none of the ministers from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is involved in corruption. In case National Accountability Bureau (NAB) summons someone, it does not mean that the person should be removed from the office,” he said adding,

“I had predicted earlier anti-watchdog bureau will summon politicians from both side after the Eid.”
