Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar has announced his resignation from PTI and politics, saying that the purpose of the May 09 attacks was to put pressure on the army and remove Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir from office.
According to details, Tehreek-e-Insaaf's Usman Dar presented the charge sheet against party chairman Imran Khan in an interview on private TV saying that May 9 events were planned in Zaman Park—Imran Khan’s residence— under the chairmanship of PTI chief.
He said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan led the policy of clashing with the army. In case of his arrest, Chairman PTI instructed to target sensitive installations in the country.
Usman Dar further said that PTI chief brainstormed workers and used them as human shields to protect himself from arrest.
The former PTI leader added Tehreek-e-Insaf's long march was made in October 2022 to stop the appointment of General Asim Munir as the Army Chief.
Usman Dar stated that the incident of May 9 did not happen in a day. After the end of our central government, two groups were formed. In one group there were Murad Saeed, Azam Swati, Hammad Azhar, Farrukh Habib who believed in confrontational politics. While Asad Umar, Umar Ayub, Ali Muhammad Khan, Shafaqt Mehmood and I used to talk about reconciliation with the army.
The foundations of PTI were shaken after the attacks on institutions. Chairman PTI used human shield to avoid arrest and he supported the anti-state narrative, added Dar.
He said that former Prime Minister himself is responsible for the current situation of PTI. May 9 is a shameful tragedy which should be condemned as much as possible.
Usman Dar announced: “I have decided to say goodbye to Tehreek-e-Insaaf and politics”.
