A security operation in the Angoor Ada area of the South Waziristan district has left two soldiers of the Pakistan Army martyred, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The two terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire on late Monday. The military’s media wing said the two terrorists were involved in attacks on security forces.
The ISPR identified the soldiers as Major Shujaat, 30, from Toba Tek Singh and Sepoy Imran Khan, 27, from Naseerabad.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists.
Angoor Ada is a town in Barmal valley straddling border between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and Afghanistan’s Paktika province.
It has rugged terrain and dense jangles. It is one of the few easy passages across this mountainous border, and one of two between Paktika and Waziristan, the other passage being the Gomal River.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on the other hand, has condemned the terrorist attack in Angor Ada and paid tribute to the martyred soldiers.
“The sacrifices of the martyrs were a testament to the strong resolve of Pakistan against terrorism,” he added.
