Pakistan reports 136 coronavirus deaths in 24 hours

Lahore: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases surged to 165,062 in Pakistan on Friday, while the death toll stands at 3229.

According to National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 4,944 cases of coronavirus were reported while 136 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.

As many as 61,838 patients have recovered from the disease, while the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases.

Around 38,824 tests were conducted in last 24 hours, taking the total number to 10,011,106.

Punjab

After sharp increase in the cases, the number of patients swelled to 61,678 in the province. The province reported more than 1149 coronavirus (COVID-19) causalities.

A smart lockdown has been imposed across the province to stem the spread of the infection with many areas of Lahore, Faisalabad and Islamabad being sealed.

Sindh

The province has started easing lockdown restriction as it has allowed some industries to resume operations.

The cases of infection have surged to 62,269 in the province, the most affected region in Pakistan. The death toll has reached more than 886 in the province.

Balochistan

There are 8,998 confirmed cases while more than 176 patients have recuperated from the infection so far.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The confirmed cases have surged to 20,182 in the province. It is leading other regions with more causalities as toll has surged to more than 731 in KPK.

AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan

There are 1,225 coronavirus cases in the GB while more than 17 patients including a young doctor have died due to the infection. As many as 416 people have recovered from the infection.

There are 769 cases in AJK while more than 13 deaths have been reported.

Islamabad

There are 9,941 cases in the capital city while more than 90 people have lost their lives.
