Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed announced in a Thursday video message that single ticket counters were being opened at railway stations in some cities.

The move is being taken to reduce the load on the online ticket reservation system. There are issues with the online system issue, Rasheed said, adding that it cannot take the load.

The Railways Ministry restarted operations on Wednesday and only allowed tickets to be booked online.

However, now single windows will be opened for ticket reservations in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Multan, Sukkur, Peshawar and Quetta.

SOPs will be followed at these counters and they will be opened Friday morning. They will remain open from 8am to 5pm.

The policy of only selling 60% of the tickets on any given train remains in place.
