A day after the premier chaired National Coordination Committee on COVID-19, the Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday ordered for stepping up Pakistan Army’s assistance to civil administration for containment of the coronavirus.
The army chief underscored that protecting oneself is the foundation for the nation’s collective protection against the coronavirus.
He urged the nation to be responsible and take every precautionary measure to curb the spread of the virus.
“Let’s be responsible citizens at an individual level first and in turn assist authorities for safety and protection at a collective level,” he said.
COAS Bajwa asked the nation to follow guidelines provided by government officials and health departments to help combat the virus – whose tally of confirmed cases has crossed 500.
Referring to China’s response to tackling the virus, the army chief said, “Nothing can defeat a responsible and determined nation”.
He further stated that the Pakistan Army will serve and protect the nation, and “will succeed by being self-disciplined, cooperating, reinforcing each other and thereby synergising various efforts.”
